5th-6th century AD. A terracotta oil lamp with basal ring. broad body and nozzle, running wavy bands and pellets to the shoulders, lug handle to the rear, low-relief profile bust (of an Emperor?) to the discus. See Bémont, C. Lampes en Terre Cuite, Paris, 2007. 170 grams, 13cm (5 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired in the early 2000s; formerly with a Slough collector since the 1980s. [No Reserve]
