Powerful folk art carving of a bound man or slave. Subject appears to be an African American man in his 20s or 30s, bound with rope, hands tied behind his back.

Measures 31" x 9" x7"
Notes: Signed 'C. Oliver' or 'C. Oliver Lagra...' and dated 1934 on the back of the base.

Condition

Good condition overall. There is some wear including chips to the wood base. (see images). The sculpture appears to be carved out of two pieces of wood. There is a gap of material between the two pieces of wood in the lower leg area. (see images).
