About the artist: William Zorach (1887-1966), was born in Lithuania. When Zorach was four his family immigrated to the United States, settling in Cleveland, Ohio. Zorach showed exceptional artistic talent at a young age. At the recommendation of his seventh-grade teacher Zorach began studying lithography at night at the Cleveland School of Art. In 1907 Zorach moved to New York and study art at the National Academy of Design where he received several awards for his paintings and drawings. In 1910 Zorach then moved to Paris for one year to study art. Zorach then moved back to the US, setting up and studio in New York City. Shortly after his work was accepted into the famous 1913 Armory Show. In 1923 Zorach bought a farm in Maine, where he and his family would spend their summers. From 1923 on until his passing William Zorach split his time between Maine and New York, creating art, exhibiting and teaching.William Zorach established himself as a well known American modernist artist and exhibited works throughout his life including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Dallas Museum of Fine Art, the McNay Art Institute, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. His works are held in museums across teh country including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the Los Angeles Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Good condition. Some toning to paper consistent with age.
