Sir John Franklin was a 19th-century British Royal Navy officer most-remembered for his explorations of the Arctic. His final voyage in search of the Northwest Passage in 1845, became an important journey in describing the arctic regions of the world even though it ended in mysterious disappearance. Reports on the excursion were published by a number of authors including that of Francis M’Clintock.
In 1857, at the request of Franklin’s wife, Captain M’Clintock set out on a voyage to discover the reasons for Franklin’s disaster. ‘The Voyage of the Fox’ provides an account of M’Clintock’s voyage in search for Franklin and crew, filled with incredible illustrations of encounters and discoveries.
