Bronze of young archer by Joseph-Antoine Gardet, Paris Foundry mark, original rotating bronze base.Circa 1880.////////////////////////////////////////////////////////(From French WIki):"Joseph-Antoine Gardet , born in Paris 6 th February 22 , 1861 1 and died on February 24 , 1891 in the same city, is a French sculptor , Rome sculpture prize in 1885. Son of the sculptor Joseph Gardet , and brother of the sculptor Georges Gardet , Joseph-Antoine Gardet is enrolled at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris , where he is a student of Jules Cavelier and Aimé Millet .After a second prize in 1884, he was awarded in 1885 the first prize in Rome for his plaster bas-relief, The Body of a Spartan Soldier Dead in Battle, delivered to his mother .
