Description
Circa 1851 Audubon prints of animals, seven color prints from 'The Quadrupeds of North America' by John J Audubon, Ca 1840's to 1870's (printed in three volumes). Plates include: 1) Plate LXX - Lay's Least Shrew. 2) Plate CXXIX - Northern Meadow Mouse. 3) Plate XLIV - Canada Pouched Rat. 4) Plate LXIX - Common Star-Nosed Mole. 5) Plate CXLIV - Townsend's Arvicola, Sharp-nosed Arvicola, Band Rat. 6) Plate L - Richardson's Spermophile. 7) Plate CXX - Tawny Lemming, Back's Lemming. All mounted at the top corners with small strips of tape and housed in a thin folio. Many also include a small piece of tape in the bottom center. All measure 9-in. x 12-in. mat size, (most) 6.25-in. x 8.875-in. cut-out image size. If lot is absent of a condition report, a condition report may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as grading can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions, if so desired. Provenance: C.D. Raymond & Son collection.
