Description

A Carved wooden shrine sculpture featuring 2 Elek bird (African ibis), with stylized features of the human face. The head and neck are one piece that rests inside its base.which is decorated with incised linear designs and another smaller mask image. Elek masks are used to protect the ancestors of the family it resides with. At harvest time, it protects the communities food and punishes the guilty. The sculpture measures 27 x 18 inches.
