Greece, Athens, Hellenistic Period, ca. 4th to 3rd centuries BCE. This diminutive terracotta slipware vessel features a flat circular base with several incised concentric rings surrounding a slightly concaved center, smooth and grooved sides, rounded shoulders with a large fill hole, and a tubular neck channel which leads to a small wick spout. The body also displays several areas of blackened pigmentation atop the orange-red surface. Size: 3.375" L x 2.125" W x 1.1" H (8.6 cm x 5.4 cm x 2.8 cm).
Provenance: private Ventura, California, USA collection acquired before 1980
