Jackie Robinson Signed & Engrossed Bank Check, Superb Display!
Check inscribed overall and signed by American baseball player Jackie Robinson (1919-1972) as "Jack R. Robinson" on the payee line. Handsomely displayed beneath a black and white semi-glossy photograph of Robinson swinging at home base. Matted and framed behind UV filtering acrylic glass, with blue and white-edged beveled mats and a mahogany-finished frame. Not examined out of frame. The check measures 6.25" x 2.75" while the frame overall measures 12.625" x 15.25" x 1".
The blue patterned check dated November 22, 1966 was drawn on Robinson's account at the Royal National Bank of New York and made payable to the "Cinderella Ball Committee" in the amount of $6.50. The check is imprinted "Jack R. Robinson / Rachel A. Robinson / Cascade Road / Stamford, Conn." at upper left. Stamped "Paid."
Robinson and his wife Rachel had acquired a six-acre parcel of land in Stamford, CT in 1955, while he was playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Though Robinson's widow subdivided the property following his death, Robinson's baseball mitt-shaped swimming pool still remains to this day.
