Description

Two-Piece American Renaissance Revival Burl Walnut Bed Set

third quarter 19th century, consisting of a high-back bedstead with an arched top and large carved crest over a framed "book-matched" burl walnut panel, the posts with large turned finials, the curved footboard with applied foliate carvings, h. 100", inside w. 61", l. 83", outside w. 65", l. 89", and a matching "drop-center" marble-top dresser, h. 102", w. 51", d. 16".

Condition

Both pieces in overall very good condition. The headboard has a shrinkage crack down the center seam of the panel. This could be pulled back together tight and glued. Minor dings from age and use. Will accommodate a standard queen-size box spring and mattress. The marble tops of the dresser have a few minor old stains. Interiors of the drawers are clean.
