Two Meissen Porcelain Figural Groups
ca. 1860-1922, German, the first example depicting the four seasons, comprising a putto with wheat, a putto atop a cask with goblet raised, a putto holding flowers, and another seated, holding a brazier, overall h. 5-3/4", w. 5-3/4", d. 4-1/2", with underglaze blue crossed swords, incised "1068", impressed "69" and overglaze "63." in black, the other example possibly depicting the end of war, with two cherubs, their helmets, swords and shields on the ground beside them, overall h. 5-3/4", w. 5-1/4", d. 3-1/2", with underglaze blue crossed swords and rouge-de-fer "1."
Provenance: Successions of Lois Chalona Hawkins and H. Lloyd Hawkins, Jr., New Orleans, Louisiana.
