Gertrude Abercrombie (American, 1909-1977) attributed: oil on masonite, signed and dated '59, unframed. Known as the “Queen of the bohemian artistsâ€, Gertrude Abercrombie was a staple of the Chicago jazz scene. Abercrombie is best remembered for her, self admittedly, “simple but a little strange†surrealist compositions in a controlled color palette.
