Description
Oil on board, 8 1/2 x 6 1/2 in. (sight). From askart: Born in Martinez, CA on Dec. 18, 1868. Cora grew up in Martinez and studied painting with Manuel Valencia. After her marriage to Charles Wright in 1888, she settled in Eureka where her husband was the local jeweler. While maintaining a studio in her home at 13th and H streets, she taught china and easel painting. Her work includes still lifes as well as landscapes of the redwoods and the Klamath River area. She was a close friend of Charles T. Wilson with whom she often painted. Mrs. Wright died in Eureka on Jan. 24, 1948. Exh: PPIE, 1915; Calif. State Fair, 1926; GGIE, 1939.
