All of the volumes, except ten contain a number of stories, with appendices and notes on the stories, plus an index of the Sanskrit words, and a general index. Volume nine contains the terminal essay, retrospect, addenda and corrigenda, and an extensive bibliogrpahy. Volume ten contains an alphabetical list of motifs, alphabetical list of all stories, and the general index. Katha Sarit Sagara is one of the most important collections of early Indian folklore, containing the source for many of the legends and fairy tales as they are known today.
