Harper Lee, Author of "To Kill A Mockingbird", Pens to Her Friend That He Has an Eye for "Lurid" Newspapers!

ALS on Harper Lee's personal letterhead, single sided page, 5.25" x 7.5", signed "Nelle." Near fine condition.

A wonderful ALS by Harper Lee, dated "28 March '09", signed "Much Love/Nelle", to her close friend and New York neighbor, Bruce Higgison. Harper Lee frequently corresponded with Bruce during her long visits back to her hometown in Alabama during which time Bruce would keep Nelle tied into the New York gossip scene, however at the time of these letters she may have moved permanently, perhaps writing from her nursing home in Alabama. Nelle chided with Bruce stating "How like you to send papers, not just any news-papers but the LURID ONES!/ You have me taped and I am deeply grateful! Much love/Nelle"

A wonderful personal note to her friend with a great quote from a Pulitzer prize winning author showing her interest for gossipy news.
