Description
Antique coffee/tea pot. Hinged lid, wooden handle and knob on the lid. Marked Dixon & Son on underside. The mark Dixon & Son with 3 or 4 digit number of the pattern and a workman's number are from the years 1828-1829. After 1935-38 the word son in the mark became plural, and after 1851 the word Sheffield was added. James Dixon and Son was founded in 1806 in Cornish Place - Sheffield England. It became one of the largest British manufacturers during the Industrial Revolution. It produced a variety of domestic hollow and flatware from pewter Britannia metal and silverpalte. 19th century, Sheffield, English.
