**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A spectacular piece of free-blown, pale blue-green glass featuring a deeply concave base with a rough pontil, a wide and low bell-shaped body with a pinched neck base, a very narrow and tall cylindrical neck, and a wide rim with a rolled edge. Silvery and rainbow iridescence are on both the interior and exterior surfaces. This design was made to minimize the evaporation of precious liquids like perfumes or oils, and would have played an important role in an ancient Roman's toilette. Size: 1.1" W x 3.45" H (2.8 cm x 8.8 cm)

Condition
Rim has been repaired. A few long, deep striations in the glass and small pits that seem to be a result of the glass blowing process. Small pontil mark on the base which indicates that the piece was free blown. Deep purple and iridescent patina, especially on the neck.
