**Originally Listed At $300**
Ancient Greece, Rhodes, Archaic Period, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A hollow-cast terracotta statue of a female figure, perhaps a goddess, seated upon a simple throne. She holds her arms to her sides with hands in her lap, her back ridged against the upright back rest, with slender shoulders and petite breasts defining her feminine stature. Her visage exhibits a petite nose, thin lips, and recessed almond-shaped eyes, all beneath a diademed coiffure draped down the back of her neck. Traces of the original orange, red, and pink pigments are still visible, suggesting this figure was brightly painted in antiquity. A beautiful example from ancient Rhodes! Size: 1.75" W x 4.5" H (4.4 cm x 11.4 cm).
Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
