Description
Antique tribal artifact from the South Pacific. It is a Fijian Ula (or Ulu) - a traditional throwing club. Made by a specialized craftsman from the wood of uprooted native bushes and shrubbery. It was the most personal weapon of an Oceanic fighter - Ula would be carried by warriors in their girdle, sometimes carried in pairs (like pistols). Often used for hunting as well. Ula would be thrown with great precision, speed and mastery. It would be a very powerful weapon when used correctly. It was often carried together with a full-length club - to finish off an opponent after they have been knocked unconscious by the heavy blow of the Ula. An original antique artifact, late 19th/early 20th century. All hand carved from a single piece of bush wood.
