Description
Originally listed at $100
Oceania, Samoan Islands, ca. mid 20th century CE. An impressive carved-wood spear club boasting a light burnish over golden tan woodgrain. The gorgeous weapon exhibits a unique form with a diamond-shaped point followed by two flared tiers, six spikes on either side separated by an oval, a conical handle, and round base. As beautiful as it is deadly, the spear has been decoratively incised with a lovely abstract vegetal motif on both sides and the word "SAMOA" on one side. All the incised designs have been painted in a lovely hue of creamy white. Size: 3.25" W x 32" H (8.3 cm x 81.3 cm)
Provenance: private Newport Beach, California, USA collection
