Description
This lot consists of two fine art prints on paper. The primary print, a dynamic still life, is hand signed "Roy Lichtenstein" and numbered "019/200" in graphite at top of composition. Image depicts two glasses of water, full of refraction and unexpected color. Fascinating creativity has been applied to the rather mundane subject matter. It is clear that the artist employed full imagination in the making of this inspired piece. A small, printed inscription at top of page reads, "Double Glass, 1980. Painted bronze, 56 X 42 X 17". Edition of three." Not to be overlooked, a small, embossed "OFFICIAL SEAL" at lower left corner of artwork reads, "ORIGINAL PRINT. CERTIFIED."
On the reverse, a second print shows a number of sketches that mirror the controlled beauty of this lot's primary subject matter. Glass pitchers abound, reflecting the light and dark of their interior surroundings. A printed caption at top of page states, "Multiple sketches for sculpture and Still Lifes. 1976. Graphite and colored pencil on paper, sheet: 14 X 11". Private collection." Page also bears the letterhead of the Royal Palace Gallery of Ojen Malaga, Spain, as well as a small, illegible ink signature. The art is further accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity, which additionally offers a print date of 1981. This unframed piece measures approximately 9" x 11.5".
