Xu Zhongfang began painting in 1983. In 2005, he was named the top ten folk artists by Dinghai District. Later in 2009, he was titled the batch of Zhejiang outstanding folk art talent. In 2010, Xu Zhongfang was crowned the top ten folk art painter by Zhejiang Provincial Artist Association and referred as the "grassroots painter". His works of art has been exhibited worldwide in China Modern Folk Painting Exhibition, Western Australia Art Gallery Exhibition, China Arts Festival - Gallery of Modern China Folk Painting Exhibition, World's Fair in Barcelona, Spain, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art Works Exhibition.
