Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A beautiful bottle of a thick composition, hand-carved from pale-yellow alabaster with dark and light veining throughout. The bottle consists of a lightly-rounded yet stable base, a rectangular body with dense walls tapering to a rounded shoulder, a deep interior cavity, a squat neck, and a square rim with rounded corners. The darker banding can be clearly observed when the vessel is lit against a bright light. Size: 2.875" W x 5.75" H (7.3 cm x 14.6 cm).
