Old Farm.
Circa 1940.
Signed lower right, titled 'Old Farm' verso. Carl Peters was an active Regionalist painter from New York in the 1930s and 1940s, he was a camouflage artist during WWII and painted WPA murals for the Federal Arts Project during the Depression. He purportedly painted every day from the time he was sixteen years old. Like his mentor, John F. Carlson, Peters' forte was snow scenes. His family farm on Jefferson Avenue in Fairpoint New York was, as with this painting, the subject and locale of many of these paintings. This work is identified as Old Farm Jefferson Ave, Fairpoint NY in the artist's hand verso.
Work measures 21 x 24, frame is 25.5 x 29.25 inches.
