An antique brass rotary candlestick telephone manufactured ca. 1918. Original patina. Incised on back of working adjustable chrome transmitter PROPERTY OF THE AMERICAN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY. Black Bakelite transmitter speaker. Original black Bakelite handset. Slight wear to original cord. Incised in transmitter fitting 51 AL. Original brass dialer with white base and red and black numbers and letters. On original dialer label is original telephone extension GENEVA (GE) and instructions WAIT FOR DIAL TONE. Manufacturer brass plate on adjustable transmitter piece, PROPERTY OF AMERICAN TEL[EPHONE] & TEL[EGRAPH] CO 337 PAT USA 1141332315. Incised into brass base PAT IN USA AUG 16 [19]04 SEPT 13 [19]04 JAN 26 [19]15 JAN 1 [19]18. The American Bell Telephone Company was organized on March 20, 1880 and evolved into the American Telephone & Telegraph Company (AT&T), at times the world's largest telephone company. Operable vintage wall cord added mid-20th century.
