Description
American. 1920s. Although unmarked, this appears to be a Western Electric model 540 speaker, considered at the time to be the best sounding of all early radio speakers. This would have been plugged into a receiver where it would have sat on top of the receiver for best sound distribution. 16" x 14" x 4".
Condition
Original cone is in place with creases around the edges. Old glue repairs around the center fastener. Glue repair of old tear near the edge. Original rope fringe and cloth backing appears to be restored. Retains original felt protector. Untested.
