Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $400**

Pre-Columbian, Maya, Guatemala/Pacific Slope, ca. 600 to 900 CE. An attractive form, this blackware cylinder boasts a simple yet elegant surface, solely adorned via spiraling ribs. A cylindrical vessel like this one would almost certainly have been used for pouring cacao drink, the most popular drink in Maya territories, into larger cylinders, thus producing a frothy foam on top that was the preferred way of serving it. Size: 4.125" W x 6" H (10.5 cm x 15.2 cm)

Provenance: collection of the late Alfred E. Stendahl, Stendahl Gallery, Los Angeles, California, USA
