J. B. B. D'Anville map of Gallia or France in ancient Roman times. From the southern part of England (Britannia) to the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. Mountains, rivers, lakes, cities and roadways are indicated with political divisions highlighted in outline color. Ancient and contemporary place names, ie. Parisii and Paris, are shown for each destination. An inset in the lower left shows Gallia's southern most Roman Provinces. A smaller inset labeled Batavorum Insulae is in the upper right corner. At the top left included with the title are seven distance scales, showing scales commonly used in antiquity. Text is in Latin and English. Drawn by J. B. B. D'Anville in 1762.
