Description
Old Nepalese (Chinese) or Tibet bronze bejeweled deity. Features the form of Prajnaparamita, the personification of the perfection of transcendent wisdom, in Buddhism. The four armed figure is seated on a lotus base and adorned with numerous gemstones and a reticulated and bejeweled breastplate (possibly a headdress or crown). Wonderful gold gilt surface. Measures 14" x 11". Good overall condition with wear consistent with age and several missing stones. Bequest of John Bass to the Bass Museum of Art collection. Deaccession # 1979.433.
