Description
NEW ENGLAND MAPLE HIGHBOY two-piece construction, upper section with simple applied cornice, two short drawers over four drawers, the lower section with single drawer over three short drawers above a scalloped skirt, all raised on stylized cabriole legs ending in padded feet. Chestnut and poplar secondary woods. Retains an old refinished surface with mellow color. Possibly Connecticut or Rhode Island. Fourth quarter 18th century. 69 1/4" H, 38" W, 19" D.
Losses to the padded feet, missing one board in the back, old repairs, with expected usage wear. Possibly a marriage and other alterations.
