Description

This is a very beautiful antique hand made woven straw rice paddy hat from western Java, Indonesia.This is by far one of the most intricate and finely crafted example of a rice paddy hat that I have ever come across. Collected in the early 1980's by a diplomat's wife while stationed in Jakarta, she collected with a refined eye after nearly a decade in country.The hat features some truly expertly crafted designs and form, with a solid structure,made for use. The hat measures 17 inches wide and 6 inches tall.
