The Regency style is characterized mainly by relaxing the lines and decorations, which always meets a perfect symmetry. The transition to asymmetry led to the triumph of 'Rocaille' style. The components of the Louis XV style (imagination, fantasy, movement) are contained in the Regency style. Content, but not released. Some models of clocks show already that tendency. Table or wall clocks, that style offers, without constraint, all possibilities of fantasies, asymmetry and movement. These clocks take inspiration from decorators, who propagate the forms and decorations in fashion, as Oppenord Gilles-Marie (1672-1742), considered as one of the most influential leader of the Regence style.
Condition
Good overall condition but the handle is detached (see pictures), and we have the piece. The pendulum movement is not guaranteed
