Condition
The case is remarkably well preserved, the Chinoiserie artwork and the figures in strategically placed panels, the floral decoration and lattice work have a patination commensurate with the period of the clock and all clearly defined. The moulding to the rear door has been refinished. There is a small loss to the beading around the left hand side panel, and there is some old repair to the internal mask . All glazed panels are fine, both doors have locks with keys. The silvering of the rings is fine, the chapter rings have been spun and are clean and bright, the blued steel hands are very well preserved. The movement now with later anchor recoil escapement and old serviceable bushing. The clock ticks, strikes and repeats the quarters. The linkage operating the calendar in the arch of the dial is present and working. The straps holding the movement to the case both have rather crude repairs, the left hand strap is a later replacement. Generally the clock is very good, but may benefit from a sympathetic clean and service.
