China, Neolithic Period, Qijia culture, ca. 2000 to 1600 BCE. An aesthetically pleasing, simple pottery form from a Chinese tomb: a diamond-shaped bulbous body with a wide flaring rim almost as tall as the body itself, and a single strap handle on one side of the body. The body has been painted lightly with a beige slip over a coarse fired clay surface. Surface Size: 3.25" W x 4.7" H (8.3 cm x 11.9 cm)
