Description

Very Rare 18/19 Century Chinese Glass Rod 4 panel Hardwood Screen with paintings on paper between two angled layers of small glass rods, the hardwood frames with carved, pierced and polished panels of Dragons and Bats. Age related wear, corner of one glass panel loose with a few missing rods. Height of frames 27 inches (68.5 cm.) X width of each frame 6 1/4 inches (16 cm.). NOTE: A Blog posted by the conservator at the Corning Glass Museum, Astrid van Giffen, talking about glass rod panels, locates only the 4 in the Museum's collection and state, "no other glass rod panels have been found outside of the Museum’s collection."
