Western and Northern Europe, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of sixteen bronze and lead buttons. Nine are undecorated. One is gilded and from a Russian military officer's coat, with a Russian crest on it and Cyrillic writing on its interior. One is larger and has a floral motif in relief on its face. The other four are from UK military regiments; two are from the 95th Rifle Brigade and are of the form of coins that soldiers supposedly hammered flat to trick people in foreign countries into believing they were money. Size of largest: 1.15" W (2.9 cm)
