A collection of personal effects, travel items and keepsakes of Harrison Forman. Including: * Pair of binoculars (Carl Zeiss) in leather case, with Harrison Forman's label to inner lid. Case broken, dry and dusting, binoculars worn and optics cloudy. These would have accompanied Forman to various exotic locations. * 3 of Harrison Forman's expired passports and 1 of his wife's, all with stamps and visas from locations around the globe, 1960s and 70s. * An old corporation seal blind-stamp, dated 1964, relation to Foreman unknown but part of the collection. * Box of novelty playing cards of the Mount Kenya Safari Club. * A small collection of jokes clipped from papers or various sources. * 3 travel guides written by John Forman (Harrison's son, who changed the spelling of his last name to Foreman.) * A travel-clock in retractable case. Phinney-Walker, made by the Semca Clock Co., Germany. Movement appears to be in working order, winding clock. * Several items (stationary, post card, hanger) from the Berlin Hilton, in a laundry bag also from the Berlin Hilton, plus small Lufthansa tag. * Two 50-share certificates for stock in Harrison Forman World Travel, Inc. * 3 framed items from various explorer clubs, and one framed photo presumably of family. Sold as one lot, as-is. ************************************* From the collection of Harrison Forman. Harrison Forman (1904-1978), known as a modern “Marco Polo,” was a photographer, reporter, and author of several books. Most notably, Forman provided some of the earliest photographic images of Tibet. He also interviewed Mao Zedong and covered China during World War II. While best known for his work in Asia, Forman travelled extensively and provided numerous photos and reports from locations around the globe. His reports and photos appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic, and other publications. He authored several books and also collaborated with Frank Capra on the 1937 film, “Lost Horizon” (Forman’s copy of the script to be offered in this sale.) Provenance: Acquired from the family of Harrison Forman.
