Description
Kaiser W. Germany Porcelain Plate of King Tut-ankh-amun
Size: 12.5" round, 2" height
Condition: Great
Information in German and English verso:
King TUT-ANKH-AMUN (reign: 1347 - 1339 B.C.)
Tut-ankh-amun (his name meaning "Gay is the life of Amun") was born to Pharaoh Amenophis IV (who later changed his name to Akhenaten) and Queen Tiye. His early youth was impressed by the religious reforms of Akhenaten. He was proclaimed king as a child of eight and crowned in Achetaton, in the presence of his Chief Queen, Ankhes-en-amun -- the Royal Heiress and daughter of Akenaten and Nefert-iti.
Being the child of an aging father, he was in delicate health and his life expectancy was not too high. The solemn autopsy of his mummy proved that he had not been older than 20 years when he died.
