Large panel, possibly for an exhibition, hand painted with male and female figures in stylish Renaissance period dress in a fanciful landscape. The couple surrounded with banners having a quote on fashion by Immanuel Kant. "Better be fooled by fashion than in despise the mode", "Imanuel Kant 1761". The panel trimmed with gold lame ribbon and backed with cotton twill. Signed M. E. Ridelstein. Maria E. Von Ridelstein was a SanFrancisco artist and author of A Thousand years of Fashions. 87 x 72 inches. Very good.
