Description
Newcomb College transitional mat glaze vase with carved and painted jonquils done in an Art Nouveau swirl pattern around the shoulder by Anna Frances Simpson in 1914. Marks include the Newcomb College logo, the date code for 1914 in blue slip (GY 97), shape number 205, the initials of potter Joseph Meyer, incised letter C inside a circle for a clay type and Simpson’s monogram in blue slip. Height 5 inches. There are very minor grinding chips at the base and a very faint bruise at the rim. Uncrazed
