Description
In 1925 Roald Amundsen attempted to fly from Spitzbergen to the North Pole aboard two Dornier Wal seaplanes. They were forced to land on the ice about 150 miles short of the North Pole. Once they prepared a runway they all returned to Spitzbergen in one plane without reaching the North Pole. Special postcards and Norwegian stamps were issued to help fund the expedition. Here are two of the cards and a set of the unused Norwegian stamps along with reprinted real photo of Roals Amundsen from 1961. The Norwegian stamps were issued to be used on the polar flight cards and covers. Both of the cards bear the 25ore values. Suggested bid $200
