Delft blue and white late 18th c baluster vase by Antonij Pennis. Dutch Delft blue and white baluster shaped vase and Chinese inspired Foo dog cover. The front with a Rococo cartouche in low relief surrounding a Chinese lady out walking with a parasol, the sky with a very large butterfly (?). To the base a Chinoiserie meander border. Mark for the workshop of Antonij Pennis in Delft. His workshop started up in 1750 under the name of De Twee Scheepjes (The Two little Boats). This vase was made c 1770 – 1782 when the workshop was run by his widow, Mrs Pennis-Overgaauw. Height with cover "8 / 20 cm. Condition: nick to the footrim, nicks and hairlines to the rim of the cover, Foo dog ears and tail with glaze wear (cf. pics).
