STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC TEA BOWL AND SAUCER SETS, LOT OF FIVE, each having red transfer design of "Garden Sports" pattern. Each saucer with impressed "ADAMS" mark to base, three saucers also with printed "GARDEN SPORTS" marks to base. William Adams IV & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Second quarter 19th century. Tea bowl 2 1/2" H.
Four pieces undamaged; one tea bowl with flake to rim; one saucer and one tea bowl with minor roughness to rim; one tea bowl with a hairline and minor roughness to foot rim; one tea bowl with scattered hairlines; one saucer with a shallow chip to outer rim.
Literature: Transferware Collectors Club database pattern #2243.
Provenance: De-accessioned from the Reeves Collection, Washington and Lee University, and sold to benefit the Acquisitions Fund for all of the material.
