Description
A Chinese porcelain brush pot holder. 19th century, Qing Dynasty. The underside with the maker's mark of Wang Bing Rong (1840-1900). Turquoise ground having a carved raised in relief depiction of a dragon among stylized clouds in pursuit of the flaming pearl of wisdom. Measures 4.5" high, 3" diameter. With fitted rosewood stand. Height on stand, 6" high.
CONDITION: two glaze skips to a top and bottom cloud. See photos. No cracks, hairlines or repairs.
PROVENANCE: Ex. collection of General Joseph Warren Stilwell (1883-1946) via his grandson, son of Winifred Stilwell Cox (daughter of General Stilwell).
