Description
A group of three Mayan stone bark beaters, c. AD 400 - 600, each with horizontal sides grooves for grip and closely incised grooves on the bottom. Largest 2 3/8 x 2 x 1 in (6 x 5 x 2.5 cm). An interesting group of tools used to remove the bark from trees for the processing of barkcloth which is used for making paper, and clothing. Ex Costa-Mejia collection, California.
