A LATE QING DYNASTY (1644-1912) CHINESE EXPORT LACQUERED MARBLE TOP PEDESTAL, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the inset, hexagonal, rouge marble within a dished molded boarder and greek key edge, above a pierced rectangular floret frieze, over a reticulated bombe skirt, centering a mythical beast in the form of a bat descending form swirling clouds, surmounting bat form brackets, joined to dragon mask knee carved cabriole legs, issuing from the mouth a flaming pearl of wisdom, which connects by strands of beads to blossoming branches, terminating in hoof feet, joined by a raised, "X" form stretcher carved with like blossoming boughs, centering a relief mythical beast mask. Some losses of carving, one bat bracket lost, surface wear, mild scratches and losses of lacquer; overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
