A TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN PIECE SET OF REED & BARTON STERLING SILVER FLATWARE IN THE "FRANCIS I" PATTERN, TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS, INTRODUCED 1907, WITH CUSTOM MADE STORAGE CABINET, the multi-motif flatware set designed by Ernest Meyers monogrammed "F" to the backs of the terminals, with early Reed & Barton marks including patent dates, comprising twelve complete place settings including twelve each; ice cream forks with gilt tines, hors d'oeuvres forks, salad forks with gilt tines, luncheon forks, dinner forks, dinner knives with stainless steel blades, luncheon knives with stainless steel blades, fruit knives with stainless steel blades, flat blade butter spreaders, soup spoons, place spoons, iced tea/parfait spoons, teaspoons, melon spoons with gilt bowls, 5 o'clock spoons, cream soup spoons, demitasse spoons with gilt bowls, and salt spoons with gilt bowls; plus serving pieces including a four piece roast carving set with steel blades (roast knife, roast serving fork with lift, roast slicer, and roast sharpening steel), a two piece game carving set with steel blades (game knife and game serving fork with lift), a two piece steak carving set with steel blades (steak knife and steak serving fork), three vegetable serving spoons, a fish slice with gilt blade, a salad serving fork with gilt tines, a salad serving spoon with gilt bowl, a fried egg server with stainless steel blade, a cake server with stainless steel blade, a gravy ladle, a cold meat serving fork, a master butter knife, a jelly server with gilt blade, a sardine serving fork, a pierced lemon fork, a pierced olive fork, a sugar spoon, a mustard ladle with gilt bowl, a pair of sugar tongs, a nut serving spoon; plus the following serving pieces without monogram including a stuffing serving spoon with button, four pierced vegetable serving spoons, a pair of individual asparagus tongs, and a pair of sugar tongs; plus a stuffing serving spoon with button monogrammed "S" to the back of the terminal; plus the following hollow ware items including seven nut serving bowls with date marks ranging between 1950 and 1955, a sugar shaker with date mark for 1937, two salt shakers, two pepper shakers, two cigarette holders with date marks for 1955 and 1956, and a table lighter holder with Evans lighter, total approximate silver weight: 353.28 troy ounces, together with a custom designed and made Queen Anne style mahogany storage table, the rectangular bevel edged top over a side apron, the front fitted with a hinged panel with hidden button release, opening to one full width storage drawer over two stacks of two smaller storage drawers, raised on cabriole legs with slipper feet, height: 34 5/8", width: 37", depth: 23 1/8".
Condition
The silver in overall good to very good condition with nominal indications of wear and/or use, some rubbing and loss to gilt bowls, tines, and blades, most pattern knives with replaced stainless steel blades, minor surface scratching and wear to the storage cabinet with denting to the knees of the legs.
