A VIETNAMESE / ANNAMESE SHIPWRECK EXCAVATED BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN "KENDI" FORM VESSEL, 15TH/16TH CENTURY STYLE, ovoid form with cylindrical capped neck and mammiform spout, decorated with a pair of birds surrounded by clouds which continue onto the spout, decorated with a band of jeweled lotus petals, the neck capped with a band of peony petals and a band of half-coin diaper pattern. Height: 6 3/8" Width: 7 1/2" Depth: 5 1/4"
Condition
With overall glaze degradation due to long term exposure to salt water and subsequent chemical treatment during excavation, uneven staining of body, marine encrustation present.
