Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $125**

Ancient Near East, Luristan, modern day northern Iran, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A lost wax cast bronze spearhead with a low rib extending to a short, narrow tang that probably once had a riveting hole. The style of the spearhead is probably a Type VI, named for Marlik, a major archaeological site associated with Luristan - a mound that contained at least fifty-three tombs. Within these tombs, researchers found a large number of bronze spearheads, which they have theorized were very popular weapons for Marlik's warriors, who lived in a forested, mountainous region. Size: 10.1" L x 1.45" W (25.7 cm x 3.7 cm)

Provenance: Whisnant Gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, acquired over twenty years ago
