Description
A large Greek terracotta figure of a bearded deity, Late Hellenistic Period, c. 2nd-1st Century BC, his facial details handsomely modeled and a himation covering his left shoulder and waist, with a small wreath worn in his hair. He gazes slightly to the right, while carrying a sacrificial ram with his right hand, his left hand at his chest, holding up his robes. H: 20 Â3/4 in (52.5 cm). Wonderfully preserved with appear to show signs of sea encrustation. Ex East Coast private collection; Ex Maitre G. Gamet, Aubagne, France, 1983.
